My Journey to Play Therapy
Before becoming a Play Therapist, I worked for many years as an Early Childhood Teacher, supporting children with a wide range of needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, anxiety, PDA and trauma. Through this work, I became deeply curious about the neurobiology behind children’s behaviour, and how we can support children in ways that honour their development, nervous systems and natural ways of learning.
As both an early years professional and a mother, I saw again and again that play is where children make sense of their world. I was drawn to approaches that respected children’s inner experiences and supported emotional wellbeing without pressure or expectation.
Discovering Play Therapy felt like coming home. It offered everything I believed children needed: safety, relationship, choice, and the freedom to express themselves in their own language, that is play.
My Approach
I completed post-graduate training in Child-Centred Play Therapy and continue to be guided by evidence-based, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practices.
In Play Therapy sessions:
-
the child leads the play
-
I follow their cues with warmth and attunement
-
the therapy room becomes a safe space for expression, regulation and healing.

Play Therapy supports children’s emotional, social and behavioural growth while strengthening their sense of safety and self-understanding.
Alongside supporting children, I also value supporting parents. I draw on approaches such as Tuning in to Kids®, emotion coaching and attachment-informed practices to help parents feel more confident, connected and supported.
Inspiring Play
I founded Inspiring Play with the intention of supporting children and families on the Sunshine Coast through compassionate, relationship-based care. Supporting young children and their families brings me deep fulfilment, and it is a privilege to witness children’s growth, resilience and healing through play.
If you’re wondering whether Play Therapy might be right for your child, I warmly invite you to book a free 15-minute connection call. This is a space to ask questions and explore support; with no pressure or obligation.
